Licence Terms of Use

Effective July 2026

1. Your licence

Subject to these Licence Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Materials as described below. We reserve all rights not expressly granted to you. Ownership of the Materials stays with us at all times; you are licensed to use them, not sold a copy of the underlying work.

Licence type: Individual Educator Licence

This licence covers one (1) educator for use with their own students.

2. What you may do

• Print and use these Materials with your own students in your classroom, learning centre, or private tutoring practice.
• Make photocopies of student-facing pages (workbook pages, activity sheets, response sheets) for the students you personally teach.
• Save digital files to your own device or personal cloud storage for your own use.
• Use these Materials for as long as you are actively teaching, with no expiry on your access, subject to these Licence Terms.
• Adapt pacing and delivery to meet the needs of your individual students.

3. What you may not do

• Share, distribute, upload, or post any file (or portion of any file) to any website, drive, platform, or network accessible to others outside of your licence.
• Share login credentials or downloaded files with colleagues, co-teachers, or other educators. Each educator requires their own licence.
• Copy, reproduce, or adapt lesson plans, teacher scripts, graphic organizers, or assessment materials for use in a product you create or sell.
• Use these Materials in a tutoring or intervention program you run commercially without purchasing the correct licence tier.
• Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright notice, trademark, or branding from any file.
• Upload files to TPT or Canva for any purpose, or to Google Classroom or any other platform in a way that makes them accessible to anyone other than your own students.
• Upload, input, or submit any SSW content into any artificial intelligence tool, chatbot, or AI training platform, whether for personal use, content generation, or any other purpose.

4. Multi-seat and school licences

If more than one educator at your school or learning centre will use SSW Materials, a multi-seat or site licence is required. Licences are priced per educator, not per student.

5. Copyright and intellectual property

All Materials are the original work of Spark Literacy Innovations Group Inc. and are protected by copyright. This includes, but is not limited to, lesson plans, teacher scripts, graphic organizers, activity sheets, assessment tools, anchor charts, and all associated text and design. "Structured Steps to Writing," "SSW," "SPARK + SORT," "STEMS," are our marks.

No portion of these Materials may be reproduced, adapted, or redistributed for commercial purposes without the express written permission of Spark Literacy Innovations Group Inc.

6. Artificial intelligence and content protection

SSW Materials are original, copyrighted works. You may not upload, input, paste, or otherwise submit any portion of these Materials into any artificial intelligence tool, AI assistant, chatbot, language model, or AI training platform for any purpose.

This prohibition covers:

• uploading lesson plans, teacher scripts, or activity sheets to AI tools to generate new or similar materials;
• pasting SSW content into an AI chatbot or assistant to summarize, adapt, or repurpose it;
• submitting any SSW content to platforms that use user inputs to train AI models; and
• using AI-generated derivatives of SSW content in your own products or publications.

This rule applies regardless of whether the AI tool is free, commercial, or used for personal purposes only.

7. Delivery and access

Materials are delivered through our third-party checkout and file-delivery provider. We are not responsible for that provider's availability or for access problems caused by it, though we will help you resolve any access issue. 8. Refunds

Purchases of Materials are subject to our Refund Policy. Because the Materials are digital and delivered on purchase, all sales are final and non-refundable once a file has been delivered or accessed. If there is a genuine error with your purchase (a technical issue that prevented access, a product materially different from its description, or a duplicate charge), contact us at hello@slinnovations.com within 14 days and we will work with you to find a fair resolution.

9. Disclaimer of warranties and educational use

The Materials are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

SSW is a structured writing and composition program for educational use. It is not medical, psychological, diagnostic, or clinical advice, and it is not a substitute for assessment, diagnosis, or treatment by a qualified professional. You are responsible for judging whether the Materials suit a particular student. We do not guarantee any specific learning result, score, or outcome. Student progress depends on many factors outside our control, including how the Materials are used.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Spark Literacy Innovations Group Inc., and its directors, officers, and contractors, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to the Materials or these Licence Terms.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising from or related to the Materials will not exceed the amount you paid for the Materials giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Spark Literacy Innovations Group Inc. and its directors, officers, and contractors from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Licence Terms, your unauthorized use or distribution of the Materials, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

12. Term and termination

This licence takes effect when you purchase or first access the Materials and continues until terminated. It ends automatically, without notice, if you breach any of these Licence Terms. We may also terminate the licence for breach on written notice.

On termination, you must stop using the Materials and delete or destroy all digital copies and any printed copies in your possession, except any student work already completed. Termination for breach does not entitle you to a refund. Sections that by their nature should survive (including copyright, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.

13. Updates to the Materials

From time to time, we may update or revise SSW Materials. When updates are available, you will be notified by email at the address provided at purchase. Updated files are provided at no additional cost.

14. Changes to these Licence Terms

We may update these Licence Terms from time to time. The version in effect when you purchase applies to that purchase. For ongoing access, we will post the current Licence Terms on this page with an updated effective date, and your continued use of the Materials is your acceptance of them.

15. Governing law

These Licence Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at hello@slinnovations.com so we can try to resolve the matter informally. If we cannot, any dispute arising from the Materials or these Licence Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia, Canada.

16. General

These Licence Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Materials. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this licence; we may assign these Licence Terms, including to a successor or in connection with a sale of the business.
