Privacy Policy
Effective July 2026
At Spark Literacy Innovations Group Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"), we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website slinnovations.com (the "Site"). Please read it carefully. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Site.
A note on student data. We do not collect, store, or process any student data through the Site or our Structured Steps to Writing (SSW) materials. Our products are teaching tools. They do not require you to enter information about your students, and no student information is transmitted to us.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in a few ways:
- Information you provide. Your name and email address when you subscribe to our newsletter, request the free starter kit, create an account, or contact us. When you make a purchase, the information you enter at checkout (such as name, email, and billing details) is collected and processed by our checkout provider, ThriveCart.
- Usage data. Information about your interactions with the Site, including your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring pages, and the date and time of your visits. This is collected through Google Analytics and through standard server logs.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Small files placed on your device that help the Site function and help us understand how it is used. See Section 3.
2. How we use your information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Site and our products.
- Process your purchases and deliver the files you buy.
- Communicate with you, including newsletters, product updates, and information about our resources.
- Respond to your inquiries and support requests.
- Understand usage trends so we can improve how the Site works.
3. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the Site and to learn how visitors use it.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the Site. It sets cookies and collects usage data such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit. Google processes this information on our behalf, and its handling of the data is subject to Google's own privacy policy. This data may be stored on servers outside Canada, including in the United States.
- Checkout. Our checkout provider, ThriveCart, may set cookies that are needed to process your order and to remember your cart during purchase.
- Email links. Our newsletter provider, MailerLite, may use tracking to tell us whether emails we send are opened or clicked, so we can improve what we send.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser opt-out add-on. Some parts of the Site may not work as intended if you disable cookies.
4. How your information is disclosed
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share it only in these situations:
- Service providers. We share information with the third parties that help us run the Site and our business, only as needed for them to provide their service. These include Google (analytics), ThriveCart (checkout and order delivery), Sync.com (file hosting and delivery), MailerLite (newsletter), GitHub (website hosting), and GoDaddy (domain and DNS).
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information if required by law or in response to a valid request by a public authority.
- Business transfer. If the business is sold or reorganized, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. How your information is stored and protected
The Site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and our domain is registered through GoDaddy. These providers may automatically log limited technical data, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability. We use reasonable measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Where your information is processed
Some of our service providers, including Google and ThriveCart, store and process data on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States. By using the Site, you understand that your information may be processed in those countries, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide our services, to communicate with you, and to meet our legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it. You can ask us to remove your information at any time (see Section 8).
8. Marketing emails and your choices
If you subscribe to our newsletter or request the free starter kit, we may send you emails about our resources and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, or by contacting us at hello@slinnovations.com. We will still send you essential messages related to a purchase, such as your order confirmation and file access.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access, correct, or delete your personal information;
- object to or restrict how we process it; and
- withdraw consent where we rely on your consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We handle personal information in line with applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
10. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for educators, tutors, and parents, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Site. As noted above, our products do not collect student data.
